Q: What constitutes or makes up a "group"?
A: A "group" consists of five or more individuals.  Your "group" can be informal, that is, it does not have to be a part of a formally organized group.  Groups can often receive discounts up to 10% over individual plans.

Q: What is a J visa or a J-1 visa?
A: A J visa is a short name for the Exchange Visitor (J) non-immigrant visa category.  It is for individuals approved to participate in work and study based exchange visitor programs, which enable foreign nationals to visit the United States in order to experience life in the U.S..

This means that before you can apply at a U.S. embassy or consulate for a J visa, you must first apply, meet the requirements, and be accepted to an exchange visitor program through a designated sponsor organization. If you are accepted as a participant in an exchange program, the sponsor will provide you with information and documents necessary to apply for the J visa to enter the U.S..

The Bureau of Consular Affairs has additional information about the Exchange Visitor (J) visa.

Q: I am traveling as a short-term scholar as defined by the United States Exchange Visitor Progam.  May I lecture or consult at institutions that are not listed on my Form DS-2019?
A: Yes, a short-term scholar is expected to participate in the Exchange Visitor Program at the conferences, workshops, seminars, or other events or activities stated on his or her Form DS–2019. However, a participant may also lecture or consult at institutions not listed on the Form DS–2019 if his or her Responsible Officer issues a written authorization of such activity. Such written authorization must be attached to the participant's Form DS–2019.
DEFINITIONS

Types of Visas for Students and Exchange Visitors

F-1, or Student Visa: The visa for people who want to study at an accredited U.S. college or university, or to study English at a university or language institute.

J-1, or Exchange Visitor Visa: The visa issued to people who will be participating in an educational or cultural exchange program.

M-1, or Student Visa: The visa for those enrolled in nonacademic or vocational programs.

H-3 Trainee Visa General Information: The United States issues H-3 Temporary Trainee Visas to foreign nationals who wish to come to the United States for on-the-job training provided by an American company. H-3 Trainee Visa holders are allowed to work only for the company that is providing the training. Under this Trainee Visa, employment should only play a minor role in the program, as the main objective should be the training, not the actual work. H-3 Temporary Trainee Visas are usually issued for the duration of the training program (up to 2 years). Extensions may be granted, but within the 2-year limit.  [obtained from https://www.usimmigrationsupport.org/h3-trainee-work-visa.html]
